SDV: Tailor Challenge

This page is dedicated to providing information on a challenge run for Stardew Valley, based around collecting all clothing in the game, and making money through selling accessories and cloth. This challenge is able to be completed without mods. See: Tracking page for spreadsheets to assist with tracking clothing items.Updated for 1.6.8.

Changelog:

  • 09/05/24: Created site.

Rules

  • Collect all clothing items in the game.

  • Primary means of making money should be through selling accessories (rings, shoes, trinkets) to Marlon, and shipping Cloth.

  • Start with Meadowlands Farm (comes with dresser for clothing and accessories storage).

  • Achieve Perfection (necessary due to a hat available after).

  • Emily must be married (multiple clothing items gated behind 14-heart event); whether you stay married or not after that is up to you.

Exceptions

  • Items can be shipped for shipping achievements and quests.(necessary to access certain hats)

  • Wanted Requests and Special Orders are permitted.

  • Parrot Egg (Requires Combat Mastery to access) is permitted due to being a late-game item, unless the player would like added challenge.

Tips

  • Cloth can be obtained from recycling Soggy Newspaper, letters from Emily, Mummies, from trading Aquamarine (x3) to the Desert Trader on Wednesdays, as well as from wool (from Rabbits/Sheep).

  • The sewing machine at Emily and Haley’s house can be accessed after first acquiring Cloth and triggering a cutscene with Emily on a non-rainy day.

  • Emily’s special order (“Rock Rejuvenation”) should also be prioritized to get a personal Sewing Machine.

  • Fishing should be prioritized to access Recycling Machines and to collect Soggy Newspaper

  • Community Centre run is recommended due to less need for money; Joja runs can be done if players want added difficulty.

  • When leveling Farming, players may want to choose the Rancher and Shepherd professions due to faster wool production from sheep.

  • When leveling Fishing, players may want to choose the Fisher and Pirate professions due to extra rings and equipment from treasure.

  • Completing the Monster Eradication Goal for defeating 500 Dust Sprites to access the Burglar’s Ring may be helpful for maximizing drops from enemies, particularly Mummies.

  • Because access to Calico Desert is so necessary to acquire needed items (random clothing from the shop, cloth from Mummies) the recipe for Warp Totem: Desert should be prioritized (10 Iridium Bars from the Desert Trader).

Tips for Modders

Tracking

To assist with tracking all clothing items needed for this challenge, I have created spreadsheets (with images and explanations for how to access all items) that players can fill out as they continue their challenge. These spreadsheets are made in Google Sheets, and players should navigate to File > Make a Copy to create a copy of the spreadsheet they can fill out.The only difference between the spreadsheets for Singleplayer and Multiplayer is the inclusion of the craftable Wedding Ring, which is only available in Multiplayer.
